Career path?

Let us take a trip to our past. Remember those days when it was time to leave comprehensive school and you’d be thinking about your next step. You’d be summoned to the careers office to plot out a plan of action for you. You’d probably be waiting to receive your grades and you’d be looking at all those subjects you selected and think I know exactly what I’m going to do.

Hit the fast forward button say ten years. You’ll be in your twenties and you think back to those nascent days in your first job/college/university or whatever path you set yourself on. You look at your role and think is this career anything to do with all those qualifications and choices I decided to take?

We hit the accelerator to the present day. Now, do those choices from all those years ago have any bearing upon you now? Maybe you thought you’d be an accountant and ended up as a delivery driver. Perhaps you studied to be a geologist and instead wound up as a police officer. Or maybe you are on of those rare souls who found your niche all those years ago and are in the career you dreamt of.

For most of us though we end up on completely different journeys than we expected. That, is something to marvel for it shows us the ebb and flow of life and our choices are seldom set in stone. We change, we adapt and we follow the whims of existence wherever they may lead and it continues right now.

Let your heart guide you to where it will, for you are the masters of your choices.
