Do we listen?

We hear and we also listen. Yet, there is quite a difference between these two audio faculties. Most of us often hear what is said and those words may register but may not be heeded. They almost become background noise and for the person who uttered those sentences it may cause immense frustration when they are not heeded. They may feel ignored.
However, it is not a slight on them. We may not wish to ignore that person’s verbal worth but they stray into the periphery of our awareness for we have not listened. Indeed, listening is quite a skill that in this day of instant gratification been diminished or even lost. Why do we need to listen when we can with a few buttons pull up anything we like.
The problem is though we miss those interactions and the possibility of splendid dialogue. How long will it be before we speak in emoji talk we wonder? Hopefully, we haven’t arrived there just yet but let us all remember to do our best to listen and those who feel ignored, just repeat your message until the penny drops. Repeat, repeat, repeat is often a good way to instruct and a lesson for us all to heed and take to heart.
